Super Monaco GP
Super Monaco GP is yet another one of Sega’s awesome racing games from the early 90’s. The unique arcade game consists mostly of one race at the Grand Prix of Monaco. The player must qualify in under 45 seconds in the shortened track in order to actually race. If he fails, the game ends, but if he succeeds the player qualifies into the harder rounds.
The game was one of the first games to include a rear-view mirror and offered a unique look and feel that many of the other games of the time did not offer. As a result, Super Monaco GP became a massively popular arcade race game that many people of the early 90’s can fondly reminisce about.
The circuits are modeled off of the ones that were used in the 1989 Formula One season. The background scenery is similar to the real-world circuit venues. However, since it was one of the earlier video arcade games the though without the scenery defintiely lacks many scenery details most would expect to see today.
Nevertheless, Super Monaco GP is considered one of the legendary classics and helped paved the way for several other racing games we all know and love today! It is considered to this day to be one of the best driving games to have ever hit the same and rightfully so! Few can deny just how epic it is!
