The sensation of speed on a motorcycle versus in the car is very different. Needless to say 248 mph feels a lot faster—and is much more dangerous—on the back of the motorcycle. That speed was recently hit by Kenan Sofuoglu, the Turkish professional motorcycle racer. Sofuoglu made his run on the Kawasaki Ninja H2R and had the Izmit Bay Bridge closed for the attempt. Hitting 248 mph took 26 seconds, with a time at high speeds purposefully kept low to reduce the chance of the tire blowing out. The Bugatti Chiron hitting 236 mph at Le Mans was amazing, and this new world record may edge it out. Check out this video of Sofuoglu’s run and then decide for yourself.
