When you find yourself behind the wheel of the Dodge Challenger Hellcat, the urge to spend your time pulling drag races can be extremely difficult to resist.
We are here to bring you the freshest drag strip episode involving such the Mopar machine. The 707-pony Dodge decided to duke it out with the Nissan GT-R and, as we mentioned above, we are fortunately dealing with a battle that takes place on the prepped surface.
Each of the two cars had an ace up its sleeve fender, but while the Dodge Challenger had simply dropped its standard rubber for the pair of drag radials, Godzilla came with plenty of mods.
The Nissan GT-R had been gifted with full bolt-on goodies, with the list of custom work being led by the E85 setup. As the result, the Nissan had gone from the mid-500 crank hp range to delivering 600 ponies at the wheels.
Given the Japanese machine’s visit to the gym, and we could call the Dodge’s effort the extremely brave one. For the sake of comparison, we will drop the Dodge-provided quarter-mile figures of the Challenger Hellcat here: while the standard tires allow the blown 6.2-liter vehicle to complete 1,320 feet sprint in 11.2 seconds, turning to drag radials should bring that time to 10.8 seconds.
