Lots of concept vehicles have fans shouting just build it now!, and very few of them actually make it to the streets without being watered down.
The Lexus LC Coupe is one of those rare occasions where you would be hard pressed to find differences between the LF-LC concept and the production vehicle– and is all the better for that.
It’s also unique in that, while industry is going downsizing and adopting forced induction, it has stuck to the naturally aspirated V8, taken from the smaller RC, for its luxury coupe.
With 467 HP providing a 0-60 mph sprint of 4.5 seconds, the LC 500 is probably powerful enough for the most owners to not feel short-changed. There’s also the hybrid, labeled the LC 500h, which combines the 3.5-liter V6 and an electric motor for the total output of 354 HP, which is about half a second slower to 60.
There is more to it than numbers, though, or stunning looks. Although pricing hasn’t been announced, it’s expected to bear the sticker of close to $80k, and thus it must deliver on all fronts to convince customers to pick it up instead of, say, the BMW 6-Series of Jaguar F-Type.
We will know if it delivers once Lexus drops the embargo on the first test drives, and for now, check out the video below from Basem Wasef to see if Lexus’ GT can at least drift.
